A Journey to Healing: Ellie and the Coach Connection

Chapter 1: Coffee Conversations
In a quest for clarity regarding my tumultuous past, I made a promise to Alfred: to consider finding an independent voice to help me. It was easy to discern what Alfred required, and with a bit of luck, we had discovered a solution. But for me? I felt lost. Where would I even begin? The thought of this journey was daunting.
I decided to reach out to Coach, hesitating at first since I perceived him as belonging to Alfred. I was cautious not to complicate their bond. Nonetheless, I hoped Coach could suggest someone I might connect with, allowing me to assess my options like I had for Alfred.
I needed someone who was calm, thoughtful, and non-judgmental about my hidden secrets, guiding me gently as I navigated my emotions. Essentially, I was seeking subtle guidance.
Two weeks later, Coach and I convened at a familiar diner for coffee. This diner, much like us, exuded a sense of simplicity and comfort without pretense.
Upon seeing Coach again, I was reminded of his impressive height, his warm demeanor, and that sparkle in his smile. We shared an awkward moment, unsure whether to hug or shake hands, which turned into a light embrace filled with relief at our reunion.
After ordering, our conversation flowed effortlessly. Coach teased me, wondering if a blueberry muffin and coffee were substantial enough for someone who once baked chocolate treats.
This made me chuckle, recalling how well Coach understood Alfred and me, while I knew little about him. I quipped back, noting Alfred's fondness for the "Soho Globs" Coach had baked for his mom.
In the video "How Lovely to Meet You! I'm Ellie Paskell, Embodiment Coach," Ellie introduces herself and shares her journey in personal development and coaching, emphasizing the importance of connection and understanding in the healing process.
We transitioned to deeper topics as Coach opened up about his own healing journey after the loss of his mother. He expressed gratitude for the years they spent together, particularly in her final month.
When the moment felt right, I shared my reason for reaching out.
"Coach, it’s wonderful to see you. It feels like you never left," I began.
He acknowledged the time apart and reciprocated my sentiment. I explained how Alfred had recently echoed my past encouragements to him, saying he could be even better.
Coach listened intently, absorbing my words. I sensed a mix of pride and curiosity about Alfred's growth and how he could assist me, too.
"There's a lot happening in your mind, isn't there?" I ventured.
"Indeed," he replied. "Alfred is an extraordinary soul, and his love for his mother is profound. You’ve played a significant role in shaping him."
At that moment, I felt a wave of emotion, a flutter of vulnerability. I struggled to focus on my muffin, overcome by the weight of his words.
"Ellie, we’re going to navigate this together," he reassured me. "I'd like you to start keeping a journal."
I hesitated, explaining my discomfort with writing, but Coach persisted, emphasizing the therapeutic power of documenting memories.
"You have a wealth of experiences, and expressing them can facilitate your healing," he urged.
His encouragement sparked a realization: I did have a lot to reflect on, even if it felt daunting.
"How can you be sure I’ve done well?" I asked, surprised.
"Alfred is our evidence," he replied with a smile, lightening the mood.
Coach shared how the loss of his mother inspired him to write. He quoted a writer: "Write your piece. Find your peace."
I agreed to begin documenting my past as he promised to find someone who could support me.
"It will be someone truly deserving of you," he assured me, which brought a tear to my eye.
"Ellie, I'm proud of you for reaching out. I’ll always be here to support you," he said, shifting from Coach to Tom, a more personal connection that felt significant.
We embraced again, this time more warmly, leaving me with a sense of hope.
On my way home, I stopped by a local game store to pick up a journal. I hadn’t yet decided whether to write by hand or type, but the mere presence of that yellow journal would remind me of my commitment.
I felt a surge of anticipation. I was ready to embrace this journey, and I knew Tom would be there to guide me.
This is an evolving story, the third installment in my series on "Alfred." The previous entry in Ellie's Story is available below.
