Picture this scenario:
You wake up to a new day. As you brush your teeth, your mind is flooded with a mix of thoughts. To redirect your focus, you decide to embrace positivity. So, you begin to vocalize affirmations such as:
“I will give my best today”
“I feel joyful”
“I appreciate my life”
After repeating these phrases, you start to feel uplifted, correct?
Yet, there’s a downside to affirmations that often goes unnoticed. They can inadvertently highlight what you believe is missing in your life, which can be quite unsettling.
I recently delved into a book titled ‘The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck’. The author sheds light on the self-improvement sector and its incessant focus on what we perceive we lack.

In the realm of self-help, common questions arise, such as:
“How can I achieve greater success?”
“How can I find happiness?”
“How can I make a difference in the world?”
When we chase these inquiries, we inadvertently convince ourselves that we are not already successful, happy, or impactful.
This mindset can erode our self-esteem, leaving us feeling like we’ve fallen short of our potential.

Belief serves as the foundation of the inner strength needed to overcome challenges and push your limits.
Next time you engage in affirmations, consider this truth:
A truly content person doesn’t stand before a mirror proclaiming, “I am happy.”
