Chapter 1: Welcome to Episode #166

Greetings to all dedicated readers and passionate writers! In this 166th episode, I've gathered some of my favorite narratives alongside those nominated by our esteemed editors and wonderful readers. Below, you'll find links to these stories following a brief overview of our publication's recent activities regarding publishing and curation.

As a volunteer editor, curator, and media coordinator for ILLUMINATION Publications, I wear several hats, assisting on platforms such as Slack, Discord, YouTube, and other specialized social media outlets like Reddit and Quora. I take great pleasure in nurturing our community of writers and readers, enhancing the vibrancy of our publications. Additionally, I manage two of my own publications—one focused on gaming and the other on videos and podcasts.

Today, I carved out some time to compile the boosted stories from May, and I believe you’ll find a selection of enjoyable reads in this unique collection.

Our diligent editor, Mike Broadly, DHSc, has just released his inaugural newsletter for the Health and Science publication, a project he is deeply invested in. It appears to be thriving! Here’s a glimpse of his impressive newsletter 😊

Look at how well his publication is performing 🔥 It's even surpassing my gaming one! I must admit, I'm a tad envious 😍, but I'm thrilled for him—he truly deserves this success due to his relentless efforts. 👏 Here are the May 2024 stats for Health and Science on Medium.com.

Recently, Dr. Yildiz conducted an interview with the remarkable writer Payal Koul, whose insights inspired me as an aspiring writer. I aspire to write and speak with the same confidence she exhibits.

You can discover more interviews like this in the attached collection.

Section 1.1: Gaming for the Elderly

I also penned a piece about the benefits of gaming for older adults, drawing from my nostalgic gaming experiences with my grandparents. Mike shared his humorous take on my article, which I appreciated.

After completing my publishing and curation tasks, I wrote two short pieces—one on gaming and another on tech—to keep my writing skills sharp, as most of my time is dedicated to editing and curation.

In a recent surge, we welcomed over 150 new writers. I introduced this group in the previous collection and another set of 150 writers today. With over 30,000 contributors to our publications, it’s essential for new writers to receive support from seasoned authors.

Our new newsletter on Medium is ready for distribution, and we'll also promote it on Substack. Dr. Yildiz shared it from his secondary account, unveiling a new service called Priority Publishing for timely content, which may intrigue some readers.

Chapter 2: Monthly Highlights

The ILLUMINATION Curators compiled the monthly boosted stories for May. Mike also shared a fascinating story that surprised me, reflecting similar themes to my previous piece on ethical dilemmas in the medical field.

One of my standout favorites was Dr. Yildiz’s explanation of how intermittent fasting can alleviate digestive problems—a topic I can personally attest to after experiencing its benefits. For non-members, here’s a friend link.

Today, Mike wrote about my favorite subject: gaming! He published it as his debut piece for ILLUMINATION-Gaming, targeting seniors like himself. Let’s celebrate his inspiring story, which could greatly benefit seniors like my grandparents, who are enjoying gaming immensely.

Recently, I’ve also enjoyed Mike’s inspiring writings on health and science, including:

  • The Sobering Truth: Alcohol's Well-Known Links to Cancers
  • Breakthrough in Cancer Treatment: Delivering Proteins Inside Cells with Hybrid Nanotubes
  • Global Health Crisis Deepens: Alarming Spike in STIs Overshadows Progress on HIV and Hepatitis
  • How Improving VO2max Highly Enhanced My HRV in My Golden Years

You can explore more of his insightful pieces from this list.

Additionally, I recently penned a humorous piece about young Sheldon, who seems to be shaking things up on social media.

I also crafted a tech-related article.

We have also introduced a talented new writer on Medium, Karen Goldfarb, who is not new to the craft. Let's also welcome Tejus Yakhob.

Mike introduced one of the contributors to his Health and Science publication, Naya Monroe, MA, LCDC-I, who is relatively new to Medium but experienced in writing. Let's extend a warm welcome to her.

Naya authored a beautiful piece on music therapy that was published in Health and Science.

I was particularly moved by Dr. Yildiz's recent memoir, which was both inspiring and significant. His new story on Design Thinking for Artists is noteworthy. He also wrote a powerful satirical piece addressing scammers that has garnered attention.

Last weekend, I compiled a collection of boosted stories from the last two weeks—30 new gems that I think you’ll enjoy.

Here’s a brief article I wrote about gaming to keep my writing skills fresh:

Why I Believe Gaming Can Be Healthy If Played Correctly

And here’s a short piece regarding a recent ransomware attack on an Australian healthcare organization, reminiscent of a similar incident a few years back when hackers compromised our personal and health data on the dark web.

Another Hit by a Ransomware Cyberattack in Australian Healthcare

I also created a short piece for game and sci-fi aficionados that I believe gamers will appreciate:

Halo: Redshift Is a Cooperative Halo Campaign Mod

Here’s Mike’s latest collection featuring numerous great stories.

Mike's Favorite Stories on ILLUMINATION Publications — #120

One of my favorites was by Lawson Wallace, who shared his journey on YouTube and the progress he’s made. As many of you know, Lawson has been an editor at ILLUMINATION for a long time, supporting our writers.

My Unexpected Success on YouTube Has Given Me the Courage to Dream Bigger

I delved into several enlightening research articles authored by Dr. Yildiz that address crucial health issues impacting our well-being:

  • Why Black Youth Die from Asthma 7 Times More Than White & Potential Solutions
  • Research into Racial and Ethnic Disparities in the US Indicates in All-Cause of Mortality Among Young People

Mike curated my story alongside an emotional piece that resonated with him after watching some Australian films. 🦘

An Exceptional Story That Brought Tears to My Eyes Today

If you haven’t heard of Dr. Yildiz's new publication, he also sent out an invitation from his secondary account, Dr. Mehmet Yildiz (Tech), which I found quite inspiring. Below, I’ll briefly introduce this publication along with submission guidelines.

Mike introduced Dr. Adam Tabriz, who contributes to his publication. Dr. Tabriz has also volunteered as an editor for ILLUMINATION. We certainly need more experienced editors like him.

Dr. Tabriz has established a specialized publication. Let’s congratulate him and consider contributing as writers or readers. More details will follow soon, and you can apply using our usual writer registration portal.

In our ongoing efforts to increase membership, Dr. Mehmet Yildiz shared friend links to some of his boosted stories to encourage non-members to join Medium. He also recommends that other writers create similar collections with friend links to post on ILLUMINATION-Curated or other publications. Here’s his invitation.

As a significant update, we have informed the writers of the Lampshade that they can no longer monetize their content from that publication. Human-generated content remains unaffected.

POLICY: No More Monetization of AI-Generated Content on Medium. Daily List for Sharing — Volume 166

I volunteered to compile this collection for easy sharing on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Reddit, or Quora. You can find all our sharing links in this story by Dr. Yildiz.

Our editors and curators have outlined how we promote non-boosted stories, which comprise more than 99% of our content. I play a significant role in this visibility effort, and I appreciate everyone’s support that keeps me on this incredible journey.

Here are the wonderful stories nominated today! I believe you will discover something that fulfills your reading desires.
