Discovering My Voice Through Writing: A Personal Journey

Chapter 1: The Journey of Writing
Writing has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember. As someone who thrives on visuals, my journals used to be filled with collages, sketches, and doodles. Lately, I've transitioned to using sketchbooks, which has left my journals filled solely with words, devoid of color and texture. This shift prompted me to focus more on the writing itself, leading me to consider sharing my thoughts online. This is what drives my passion for writing:
To Explore and Expand My Thoughts
I refer to this process as "thinking through writing." It offers a simple yet effective way to structure my arguments and explore them in a concise 800–1000 word format. As discussed in my previous piece about nurturing multiple passions (which I term Being Multi-Passionate), I appreciate the journey of inquiry across various subjects. My writing has touched on topics such as architecture, philosophy, and personal development, with drafts on art, engineering, and literature in the works. I cherish knowledge and the act of creating new ideas, making writing an ideal medium for this exploration.
To Enhance My Articulation
Writing serves as a tool for me to refine how I express myself. I aspire not only to be well-read but also eloquent in my speech. If I hope to share meaningful ideas, I need to articulate them clearly. This concept ties into my earlier point; I've found that writing clarifies thoughts, making it easier to discuss them with others and myself. The significance of clear expression is elegantly captured in a video featuring Jordan Peterson addressing Harvard students.
To Improve My Input:Output Ratio
I coined the term "Input:Output ratio" to describe the balance between content consumed and work produced. Although it's challenging to quantify, the essence lies in reducing inputs to enhance originality in outputs. The goal is to create a lower Input:Output ratio, emphasizing active engagement with content rather than passive consumption.
To keep my thoughts dynamic and evolving, I realized I needed to produce regularly—whether that’s writing, creating art, choreographing a dance, or even cooking. Writing thus becomes an essential tool in fostering original ideas.
To Explore Authenticity
Finally, I aim to use writing as a means to discover my authentic self. The first step involves defining "Authenticity," a concept I am currently drafting an article on. I believe that through writing, I can engage more deeply with authenticity, ultimately leading me to live a more genuine life by pursuing what strengthens me.
Writing is the most potent tool I know for personal development, acquiring knowledge, and generating ideas. However, like any tool, it must be wielded with intention and purpose.
Why do you write?
Love and Light,

P.S. While it may be audacious to echo George Orwell's title, I did so for simplicity's sake. My intention was to share my reasons for writing, without claiming to reach the profound insights of Orwell’s remarkable essay.
Chapter 2: Embracing the Writing Process
The second video title is "Why I Love to Write (& Why You Should, too)" - YouTube, which delves into the personal joys of writing and its benefits for everyone.
