Email Turmoil: Navigating Strata Challenges with Karen

Chapter 1: The Strata Saga
Living with Strata Karen was quite the ordeal. The issues within the building seemed to originate solely from her. She had a knack for creating her own chaos. After spending 18 months on the council with her, I noticed a pattern: approximately every 1.12 weeks, she would conjure up a new drama that dominated our discussions, leaving little room for the actual tasks at hand.
This particular episode began when Strata Karen discovered that her suite key could unlock the common area door. After receiving five emails detailing this revelation, someone finally suggested she might be using the incorrect key. After another five emails, we confirmed she was indeed using the correct one.

Sitting in my esteemed position as strata president, I saw this as an opportune moment to get a quote for replacing our outdated key system with a modern FOB setup for all common doors. I figured this would be a hot topic at the upcoming AGM, and I wanted to appear proactive.
In the interim, I contacted the property manager to arrange for a locksmith and negotiated a bulk fee for homeowners who wished to change their locks, making it more affordable than if everyone did it individually. I thought I was being quite clever. Strata Karen, however, deemed it a waste of money and made her feelings known through a barrage of emails. She outright refused to change her locks, convinced it was unnecessary.

Through a series of lengthy and convoluted emails, we learned that Strata Karen proposed an alternate solution: she suggested borrowing another councilor's suite key to test it on every suite door. If it worked, that resident would need to change their locks; if not, they could rest easy. What kind of disastrous, lawsuit-prone idea was this?
Encouraging elderly residents and single women to forego lock changes in this scenario? Someone pointed out that unfortunate events can occur anywhere. Strata Karen dismissed this notion completely. Another member highlighted that there are individuals who try random keys in locks due to the limited combinations available, posing a significant security risk. This idea was lost on her, and she began sending incomplete emails, followed by additional messages.

Eventually, she lost interest in the lock issue after the email saga stretched over 1.12 weeks, moving on to her next self-created crusade. Before she did, however, she sent a few more emails asserting that her approach was the most effective.

I proceeded to obtain quotes for the FOB system and presented them at the AGM. The vote was overwhelmingly in favor, with only two dissenters: Strata Karen and Resident Karen. They both opposed the proposal, claiming it wasn't necessary. Oh, the irony!
