Exploring My Earnings and Experiences on Medium in 2024

As I reflect on my time on Medium, I felt it was essential to share my experiences thus far. While I typically shy away from such narratives that may seem boastful, I recognize that many newcomers are eager to learn from others' journeys within this platform.
Having joined in November 2021 and achieving a milestone of 100 followers, I began to understand that success was within reach. The moment I received my initial paycheck was astonishing—it proved that earning on Medium was indeed feasible. This motivated me to dive deeper into my writing.
In December and January, my results were promising; I wrote 21 articles in January, earning $10.70, followed by 13 articles in February, which generated $28.85. One piece I penned in February questioned whether being selected for distribution truly mattered.

I discovered that a previously well-performing article saw a decline in performance post-distribution. Was this merely a coincidence? The increase in external views is often detrimental to earnings, as we rely on Medium readers for our income.
Despite my initial concerns, the article I feared would underperform eventually became my best piece to date.

My article titled "My Top iPhone Apps" has amassed nearly $30 in earnings. While this amount may not be life-altering, it has taught me the value of patience.
In March, I only published four articles due to life’s interruptions, which also explains my sparse output in April. However, the beauty of Medium lies in its passive income potential—articles can continue to generate revenue long after their publication.
By the end of April, my total earnings reached $92. Writing on Medium is not intended to be my primary source of income; rather, it's a gratifying endeavor that provides a modest monthly income thanks to readers like you.
