Exploring My Two-Week Journey on Redbubble and Etsy

Written on

Chapter 1: Introduction to My Side Hustles

In a previous post, I discussed four side hustles I was eager to test out, and among them were selling on Redbubble and Etsy. The prospect of these platforms excited me the most.

Chapter 2: Two Weeks In

It has been two weeks since I embarked on this journey, and I've been experimenting with different strategies to drive sales. So, how did it turn out?

Section 2.1: My Etsy Experience

Here’s a glimpse of my Etsy store, which currently features just two products: a personal monthly budget planner available in two color schemes.

Etsy Store Overview

Despite only achieving two sales so far, I consider this a small victory. During the last week or so, I attempted running ads, but while I received many views, I did not see any sales.

Etsy Store Analytics

I might have overestimated how quickly items would sell, as it’s been more challenging than I anticipated. With only five clicks from 581 views, my ad engagement stands at a mere 0.86%. This suggests I need to refine my visuals, title, and meta description to improve conversion rates.

Section 2.2: My Redbubble Store

Turning to my Redbubble store, which primarily offers phone cases, I have uploaded 63 designs. However, I haven’t made any sales yet. I currently have six followers, and 154 users have favorited my products, indicating some level of engagement.

Promotion Efforts:

To promote my creations, I have taken two main steps.

  1. Product Videos

I created two promotional videos for my products and shared them on TikTok and Instagram. For more details, you can watch one of them here:

  2. Instagram Presence

I also set up an Instagram account where I post my designs and mock-ups. Initially, I thought this would be an effective strategy, but I've realized that my goal has shifted to directing traffic away from Instagram, which may limit my post visibility.

Section 2.3: Conclusion

In conclusion, while selling on Etsy and Redbubble is indeed possible, it demands significant effort and persistence. I remain hopeful that I will generate more sales in the coming months, especially with the holiday season approaching.

Two-Week Summary:

  • Etsy: 2 sales
  • Redbubble: 0 sales
