Unlocking Free Access to DALL-E 3: A Comparison with Stable Diffusion and Leonardo

Exploring DALL-E 3 and Its Alternatives
I recently experimented with the latest version of OpenAI's image generator, DALL-E 3.
Created using DALL-E 3, I've generated whimsical images like a panda enjoying a lollipop, an astronaut galloping on a horse on Mars, and a tomato sporting cowboy boots in a saloon. What ties these quirky visuals together? They all stem from my recent adventures with DALL-E 3, the innovative AI image creator from OpenAI.
When it debuted in October, I was captivated by its ability to generate stunning visuals from simple text prompts. However, there was a significant drawback—it was exclusively available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users. As someone who didn't possess one of those premium subscriptions, I felt disappointed at missing out on this cutting-edge technology.
But then I found a way to use DALL-E 3 for free.
Accessing DALL-E 3: The Surprising Solution
You might be wondering where the average user can tap into this groundbreaking AI. The answer may surprise you: Bing. Yes, Microsoft's search platform offers complimentary access to DALL-E 3 via its "Image Creator" feature. I stumbled across it one evening and realized I had struck gold.
Anyone with a Microsoft account can enjoy this service at no cost. Simply navigate to bing.com/create and log in.
Upon signing up, you'll receive free credits to kick things off. After these credits are exhausted, you can continue generating images without a subscription—though there may be a longer wait time.
Eager to test it out, I began with the prompt: "A baby panda eating a lollipop." In mere seconds, DALL-E 3 rendered a delightful image of a charming panda.
The accuracy and artistic quality of the output left me in awe. Over the next few days, I lost myself in the endless possibilities DALL-E 3 offered through Bing. The images I created not only sparked fresh ideas but also inspired new creative projects. I designed graphics for my YouTube channel, conceptualized short films, and produced quirky art for my print-on-demand shop.
Comparative Performance: DALL-E 3 vs. Other AI Generators
In comparison to other AI image generators I've used, including Stable Diffusion and Leonardo, DALL-E 3 consistently produces superior-quality images that closely align with the prompts given. It also works more swiftly than Leonardo, which has been my go-to AI generator. One standout feature is its exceptional ability to create photorealistic portrayals of people and generate text without errors.
Here are some of the images I crafted with DALL-E 3, alongside those generated by Stable Diffusion and Leonardo:
From the left: DALL-E 3, Leonardo, Stable Diffusion (prompt: sorceress bunny, anthropomorphic, high ornamented armor, fluffy fur, foggy, stormy, 70mm)
From the left: DALL-E 3, Stable Diffusion, Leonardo (prompt: a cute white-haired girl plays with a black cat, gothic steampunk Halloween)
From the left: DALL-E 3, Stable Diffusion, Leonardo (prompt: a mysterious, fog-shrouded landscape illuminated by a deep red blood moon.)
While using DALL-E 3 through Bing does have its limitations—such as generating only one image at a time compared to OpenAI’s interface, which allows for grids or variations—there are still many advantages to this free access. The maximum image size is smaller on Bing, capped at 1024x1024 pixels compared to 2048x2048, and certain content types like logos and text face more restrictions.
Despite these drawbacks, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to experiment with this AI technology without any costs!
For anyone interested in trying out DALL-E 3, I highly recommend utilizing the free access via Bing. Simply visit bing.com/create and unleash your creativity!
I would love to hear about the fascinating, beautiful, or even bizarre images you create with this tool. The pace of advancement in this technology is astonishing, and I’m excited to see what’s next. For now, I’ll continue crafting delightful scenes of pandas enjoying lollipops!
