Chapter 1: Understanding Holistic Healing
Healing manifests in diverse forms, yet it invariably leads us to a state of wholeness and completeness. Today, we’ll delve into a fresh perspective on healing, and I invite you to join me on this enlightening journey!
Years back, I named my business Healing Elements, not fully grasping the significance of that title. But what exactly constitutes a Healing Element? To truly answer that, we must first explore the essence of healing.
According to Merriam-Webster, to “heal” means “to become sound or whole.” This insight transformed the energy of my writing. I emphasize the term “whole” deliberately here, as it reflects the core of yoga, which is also about achieving wholeness. Thus, we can conclude that healing and yoga practice share a profound connection.
Hold on!
Continue reading, even if yoga doesn’t resonate with you. This discussion aims to provide a new lens through which to view healing.
Section 1.1: The Role of Doctors in Healing
Did you know that doctors do not heal you directly; rather, your body possesses the innate ability to heal itself? A physician creates optimal conditions for your healing journey, but the true healer is you!
The Healing Elements I advocate are holistic tools and techniques I've acquired throughout my life, aimed at maximizing your healing capacity. Rooted in yoga, these methods aspire to unveil wholeness instead of dis-ease.
You might wonder, "I thought yoga was primarily about physical postures and mental strength. How does therapy fit in?"
Subsection 1.1.1: The Intersection of Therapy and Healing
Therapy, as defined, is designed to alleviate or heal disorders. When you acknowledge your wholeness, you’re not swayed by external events, your thoughts, or the beliefs of others. This sense of “wholeness” grounds you in your true self, aligning with the essence of healing.
Numerous therapeutic modalities intertwine the mind and body, much like the various forms of yoga, which extend far beyond mere postures and breathing exercises.
Both yoga and healing aim for a state of wholeness. Therefore, yoga therapy employs yoga techniques to facilitate healing.
The practice of yoga originated from ancient scientists in Southeast Asia thousands of years ago. It encompasses a vast array of tools and techniques, what I refer to as “Healing Elements,” that assist practitioners in allowing their bodies to heal and embrace their wholeness.
These techniques extend beyond physical postures; they include mindfulness, breathwork, somatic practices, and methods that cultivate love and devotion, as well as contemplative activities rooted in service to others.
Let me clarify for those who feel yoga is limited to complex poses: it’s not just about physicality. The term “Asana,” often translated as “yoga pose,” signifies “a steady position” according to foundational yogic texts.

The notion that “a steady position” refers solely to bodily alignment is a common misconception. It truly signifies a holistic perspective. When you perceive yourself as whole, you naturally practice yoga, allowing your body to relax in any position. This means anyone can engage in yoga; otherwise, it merely becomes a means of physical conditioning.
While I acknowledge the merit of a Western approach to yoga that emphasizes physical strength and mental resilience, I hope this article broadens your understanding of yoga's therapeutic potential in fostering a sense of wholeness.
Chapter 2: The Essence of Yoga and Healing
Yoga embodies the belief that you are inherently whole, complete, and perfect. The journey involves shifting from a mindset focused on past experiences to one that embraces the present moment.
How, you may wonder? By employing various tools, techniques, and guiding principles that promote deep relaxation, allowing the mind to become calm and steady, revealing your true essence.
We refer to this as practicing yoga. Once you recognize your wholeness, it’s vital to reinforce that realization moment by moment through yoga practice. After a lifetime of feeling incomplete and separate, it may require consistent reinforcement to sustain a perception of wholeness.
The Healing Elements I present are based on a therapeutic yoga approach, focusing on healing or “becoming whole” as defined.
All forms of pain, discomfort, or suffering stem from a deeply ingrained belief of incompleteness. Whenever you experience suffering—be it physical, mental, or emotional—it arises from a feeling of “not being whole.”
Pain or discomfort is often interpreted as “something is wrong with me.” This mindset has been reinforced over time. Now, it’s essential to embrace a transformative belief:
I am whole,
I am perfect,
I am free!
Commit to reinforcing this new belief with every breath, action, and moment of love you share. This is the pathway to a joyful, peaceful, and fulfilling life anchored in healing.
The journey of healing and self-discovery begins now. Allow your life to reflect the completeness you can feel at this moment by utilizing any Healing Elements to nurture and recognize your wholeness.
