Recently, I spotted a commercial that showcased this unique institution. It's not your typical university; it’s Reese's University, associated with the well-known brand famous for its delectable chocolate and peanut butter confections. At first glance, the ad made it seem like an authentic educational establishment complete with laboratories, a marching band, and collegiate athletics.
But in reality, it serves as a brilliant marketing initiative.
This concept is so enticing that it leaves you wondering who wouldn’t want to enroll? Their website, managed by the Hershey Company, mimics a genuine college site, complete with course descriptions, student testimonials, and an application process boasting a staggering 99.9% acceptance rate. They even have a mascot, Cuppie, representing the Fighting Cuppies in sports. The presence of merchandise in their student store adds to the illusion of authenticity.
Although it’s not a legitimate institution, this clever marketing tactic is noteworthy. From my experience in an advertising class, I learned that effective marketing hinges on establishing connections with customers. People love Reese's, and many have a fondness for college life. Imagining a place dedicated to the chocolate and peanut butter treat is quite tempting.
The website’s motto encapsulates this idea beautifully: "Dreams are built on perfect combinations: Talent & Perseverance, Curiosity & Passion, Chocolate & Peanut Butter. The next great Combination could be REESE'S University and YOU." This enticing pitch makes me wish it were a genuine college.
