Section 1.1: The Financial Outcome

In just 30 days, my digital product earned me an impressive $46.99, averaging about $1.56 per day. Given that this product was offered for free, I consider this a remarkable success. While this sum won’t dramatically change my life, the insights I gained from this experience are invaluable.

I’ve gained:

  • Increased confidence in generating income from digital products.
  • Enhanced skills in crafting compelling offers.
  • Greater comfort with online sales.

I would gladly have invested over $1,000 to achieve these mindset shifts, but instead, I earned $50 while learning essential business lessons.

As motivational speaker Tony Robbins wisely said, “It’s not about the goal. It’s about growing to become the person that can accomplish that goal.” You likely have a digital product idea either stored in your head or tucked away in your Google Drive.

In my case, I extracted content from over 200 Medium articles I published since 2019, with some going viral and attracting significant attention. This allowed me to identify the content that resonates well with a broad audience, and I compiled my top-performing pieces into a cohesive digital product.

The editing, design, and launch took me just a few hours over a single weekend, and I thoroughly enjoyed the process.

These ‘sawdust’ solutions stem from your experiences, and there’s an audience willing to pay for them. Remember, what might seem basic to you can be incredibly valuable to someone who is a few steps behind.

I was astonished to find people willing to pay for a free product. The key is to ensure your digital product offers immense value, compelling individuals to feel guilty for not investing in it. My product pricing ranges from $1 to $20, with the higher end matching the cost of a physical book.

Your goal should be to “Promise 1, deliver 10,” and watch the money come your way.

Section 2.3: Traffic and Offer Clarity

If your product isn’t selling, you might have a traffic issue or a problem with your offer. My success stemmed from consistently publishing content on platforms like Medium, alongside my newsletter and social media, which collectively drove traffic to my product.

Section 3.1: The Importance of a Sales Funnel

Even a free product can lead to sales. Your lead magnet serves as the first point of sale in your funnel. Provide value at each stage to cultivate trust.

Here’s how my funnel operates:

  1. People discover my work on Medium, Instagram, or LinkedIn.
  2. They download my free digital product on Gumroad in exchange for their email.
  3. Their email gets added to my Convertkit list (automated via Zapier).
  4. They receive a weekly email filled with valuable insights.
  5. I present my paid products and services, such as coaching sessions.

At each interaction, I’m ‘selling’ something, whether it’s a sign-up or a download. The more someone engages with your offerings, the more likely they will purchase in the future.
