Cozy Mornings and Prepping for the Future

Written on

Morning Rituals

I've been awake for two hours now, enjoying the peaceful start to my day.

I decided to treat myself to some hot chocolate this morning, mixing in just a bit of mocha. Typically, I only use about a third of a packet for a lighter taste, as too much coffee can upset my stomach and tends to be overly sweet. A little indulgence is nice now and then.

My daughter has been busy stocking our prepper pantry, placing an order on Amazon that totaled a few hundred dollars. The first part of the shipment arrived yesterday, with the rest expected next week. We’re diligently increasing our food reserves in preparation for potential shortages. I say this with a hint of humor, though the reality is quite serious.

I've felt pretty good lately and have been productive. Recently, I’ve been dehydrating various foods—like eggs, fruits, and tomatoes—to prepare for any upcoming scarcity or price hikes. This method is much more cost-effective than purchasing pre-packaged items.

It looks like no family members will be visiting this weekend, which is a relief as I have quite the to-do list. Today, I plan to continue dehydrating food and will need to grind spices and transfer everything into jars. Additionally, I have to take the dog for a walk, check the mail, tidy the kitchen, move some wood to the shed, scrub the bathtub, and make room in the hall closet for the extra supplies, among other tasks.

I aim to take Sunday off from chores to focus on creating a video for my art channel. Meanwhile, I’ve been consistently uploading videos to my prepping channel. Despite my internal struggles regarding my faith as a Christian, I try to reserve Sundays for rest. It’s both respectful and practical to have at least one day each week dedicated to recharging.

Looking ahead to next week, I’m not quite sure what to expect with my boyfriend having two and a half days off work. I might stroll into town with one of my kids for a bank visit and possibly check out the thrift store on Tuesday.

As for dinner tonight, I'm planning to make stroganoff, served with rice and a vegetable yet to be decided. I’m also returning to a one-meal-a-day plan to help with weight loss.
