Chapter 1: The Daily Struggles of Parenting
This morning, I woke up with a hopeful mindset, telling myself that today would be a wonderful day.

Navigating life with a toddler can be quite an adventure. These little beings are like expert coaches, rigorously guiding us through self-improvement and personal growth. My toddler daughter embodies this coaching role, challenging me each day.
My goal is to cultivate tranquility, patience, and inner peace. Achieving these qualities often feels like a demanding training regimen, as I confront challenges and the sensation of losing control.
Breakfast sets the stage for the day's training:
"I don't want eggs. Can I have waffles?"
"I don't want waffles; I prefer to play with my water bottle."
"Why am I strapped in this high chair? I need to go; I have important things to do. Food is not one of them."
Our morning stroll is no different.
"Can we see the dogs?"
"Where are the cats?"
"Can we spot a rooster?"
"Let's go to the playground."
"I don’t like this playground; let’s go home."
Afternoons offer no respite, as getting toddlers to nap is like herding cats. After an hour of trying to coax her to sleep, I lose my composure and raise my voice, instantly regretting it.
Yet, I find myself a bundle of nerves, and she continues to test my limits. Eventually, she drifts off. Meanwhile, my husband, stepping in as a supportive co-coach, feels it’s the right moment to discuss my raised voice—something he’s rightly concerned about. However, our discussion doesn’t go smoothly, given my heightened emotional state.
Lunchtime and dinnertime mirror the chaos of breakfast, with more food landing on the floor than in her mouth. The nighttime routine for sleep is another round of intense training, deserving of a separate discussion altogether.
Now, as I sip my lavender tea, I reflect on the day, feeling a wave of relief wash over me—thank goodness this day is behind me!
Despite the challenges I faced, I recognize the many blessings I have.
I’m thankful for my daughter, who inspires me to become a better person daily.
I’m grateful for my husband, who stands by my side unwaveringly.
I cherish the peace in our home, especially when I consider our Ukrainian neighbors enduring real hardships daily. My worries seem insignificant in comparison.
Lastly, I’m appreciative of the opportunity to write this piece and share my thoughts.
When facing difficult days, practicing gratitude can be a powerful tool. Start by being thankful that today is over; you’ve persevered. Allow tomorrow to bring its own challenges and joys.
Take a moment to acknowledge the positives in your life—no matter how small they may seem. If you look closely, you’ll find something to appreciate.
Let go of grudges. The events of today cannot be altered. Forgive those who may have hurt you, and forgive yourself for any mistakes you regret.
Let it all go!
Tomorrow is a new beginning; don’t carry the weight of past mistakes into it.
